Step #3 (of 11 Steps To Becoming A Super-Power Car Buyer): Discover The Four Pros Of Choosing A New Vehicle

Some people will never buy used. Even if you gave them a two year old Lexus they wouldn’t drive it. They want to be the first to sit in the car and smell the leather. These people will only ever choose new.

Here are some reasons to consider a new car purchase:

Less Maintenance: A new car requires less maintenance. Many of the newer cars don’t need a lick of service for the first several thousand miles. After that the maintenance is minor. A first oil change, quick inspection and that’s it.

A rare few new car dealers cover this type of routine maintenance as part of the deal. If the dealer doesn’t cover it the maintenance is about the same price as it would be on a used vehicle.

The Warranty: All new cars are covered by the manufacturer’s warranty for the first 3 to 4 years of a cars life. This means if anything goes wrong with the car, the repair costs are covered…

Unless the issue is in a non-warranted item. Non-warranted items include items like clutches, breaks and tires. Anything that the manufacture deems a “wearable” item – an item that wears out as a result of driving the vehicle – which is more than you may think.

All new cars also come with a power train warranty that extends past the manufacturer’s warranty.

These warranties can be as much as 10 years, 100,000 miles. Some warranties even offer a tire & wheel road hazard coverage for a short period of time after purchase.

Peace of Mind: Should problems occur with your new car, you have legal recourse through state lemon laws. Every state has a lemon law in effect.

By proving that your new car is a lemon, you could receive a replacement vehicle or get your money back.

Lemon laws apply only to new cars. You also can find out if your vehicle was returned to the used-car market as a lemon by looking at the vehicle’s title and using a free look-up service provided by AutoCheck or CARFAX.

Roadside Assistance: If you’ve ever been stuck on the side of the road you know what this is and why it’s worth having. Many new car dealers offer this as a benefit of purchasing these days and in a pinch it is nice to have.

The problem with many road side assistance programs are that you do not know what company they are using. It may be Acura Total Luxury Care Roadside you think you are calling, but it is actually a local company that they outsource to.

Many new car companies pay little attention to who they outsource their road side assistance to and you can quickly end up stuck on the side of the road for hours if you wind up with the wrong company.

I have a friend who waited for over four hours for his new car to be rescued by the new car roadside service. AAA is a reliable and powerful service that is available to both new and used car dealers for road side assistance.
