Frank Myers Auto Presents: Slow Down Strategies

In a rush today? Me too. Seems I’m always rushing here and there, with no time to stop and smell the roses. These days, most people think of multi-tasking as a good thing. In some cases, it does seem necessary and harmless. I mean who hasn’t skimmed through a magazine while watching the news and eating breakfast? It doesn’t really hurt anybody and for most of us, we are so used to it that we actually enjoy it.

But news is now emerging that too much multi-tasking and over-scheduling can eventually take a toll on our emotional health so if we’re not careful, we can soon find ourselves in a state of burn-out and exhaustion. On that note, I’ve put together a few ways that we can all SLOW DOWN today . . . let’s try it together – can’t promise I’ll keep it up but for now, I’ll take a trip on the slow boat to happiness.
SLOW DOWN STRATEGIES . . .
1. Slow your morning routine down by getting ready the night before. Give yourself plenty of time to roll out of bed by going to bed earlier – this way you will have plenty of snooze time in the a.m. Plan out what you will wear, what you will eat and what you need to bring with you as you head out the door. Not going anywhere, you can still slow down your morning routine. Savor that shower. Linger over that bagel. Take time to enjoy the quiet still of the morning.
2. Drive slow. No answering your cell phone or texting and driving. Leave with plenty of time to make it to your next destination. (Then you can laugh at the people who race you to the next inevitable stoplight.)
3. Make mealtime a time to slow down. Chew slowly and take the time to enjoy every bite. This will help you feel full quicker and eat less. Also, you won’t need Pepto-Bismol at the end of the day either. An added plus!
4. Single task at work. Pick one task and refuse to be interrupted until you finish it. Focus on it. Don’t check your email. Don’t pick up the phone (I know, easier said than done). Work from home? Work with kids? Focus on one thing at a time, even if that means coloring with the kids without checking your phone. After you try these slow down strategies, you may be inspired to add more to the list For some reason, I’m feeling inspired to add one right now. I think I’m getting sleepy. ZZZZ. Just kidding, I’m not even on #1 yet.

“Car Men” Chosen To Be Superbowl Lead-In

The film “Car Men” is scheduled to debut on the grandest stage of them all…as the lead-in to the 2012 Superbowl on NBC! This is following the success of its U.S. theatrical premiere and its television ratings smash.

The worldwide television premiere of the film “Car Men” was on December 18 and the ratings were stunningly huge, especially for a documentary about a used car dealership.

Shown on NBC affiliate WXII, “Car Men” delivered a household rating of a 1.9 – 1st in the time period with all the major stations.

Even more impressive: The documentary had an undesirable infomercial lead in and had tough competition on another network from an NFL pre-game show. Expectations were high that the film would perform strong, but not like this.

Because of those ratings, Winston Salem NBC affiliate WXII 12 offered the makers of “Car Men” the opportunity to be what is potentially going to be the lead-in for the most watched television program of the year…Superbowl XLVI.

“Car Men” reveals an in-depth look at the Myers men, Frank and Tracy. While Tracy Myers may play outrageous on television to sell cars – this best-selling author, nationally-recognized entrepreneur, and devoted family man is dead serious when it comes to building a business he, his family and his city can be proud of.

“In the car business, Tracy Myers is who everybody wants to be” said auto industry pro Bruce Roffey. “When you watch Car Men, you’ll find out why.”

“My dad and I are honored and humbled that this film was made. It’s an amazing legacy, not only for our family but also for the city of Winston-Salem,” said Tracy Myers, one of the films stars. Myers continued by saying, “I was amazed at the response we got at the red carpet premiere and was shocked at the ratings it delivered when it debuted on tv. But when I found out that the film was being shown before the Superbowl, I couldn’t believe it. I’m still in shock.”

The film “Car Men” will be shown Sunday morning, February 5th 2012 at 11:30am on Winston Salem, NC NBC affiliate WXII 12.

Film Spotlights American Dream

(This article first appeared in Used Car News and was written by Jeffrey Bellant)

National Quality Dealer Tracy Myers and his Frank Myers Auto Maxx dealership in North Carolina are the focus of an Emmy Award winning film team’s latest project.

Car Men“, which had a black- tie premiere Nov. 17, tells the story of the dealership, which began as a general store 80 years ago.

A wider release is expected on Dec. 2, followed by a DVD release early next year, Myers said.

Myers is well versed in different types of media. In addition to writing the dealership’s blog, he has written newspaper articles and appeared on national television outlets, like Fox Business News and The History Channel, representing car dealers.

In late 2010, Myers appeared on motivational guru Brian Tracy’s syndicated television show.

He discussed the used- car business and the dealership’s history.

A producer from the show was so intrigued by the segment, he asked Myers if he would be interested in being part of a documentary about the business.

“ I didn’t think anything of it,” Myers said.

But the producer visited the lot, learned about how the dealership operates and convinced Myers take part in the documentary.

The production team came down a few months ago, interviewed family members and filmed for several days, Myers said.

Nick Nanton, the show’s producer, also helped make “Jacob’s Turn,” an Emmy Award-winning short film about a child with Down’s Syndrome playing on a teeball team.

Myers said once he’d heard that the production team won an Emmy, he figured they wouldn’t be interested in coming down to shoot the film about the dealership.

But they were still excited. “My wife and I are the only two people who have watched the finished project ( prior to the premiere),” Myers said. “ I know I’m partial, but I think it’s pretty amazing.

“ It’s an awesome legacy piece for my kids and grandkids. And for the industry, which I love. It shows the good side of what we do and the community side. It shows the heart and the hours that we put into it.”

Myers said he had an earlier offer from a different company to do a reality show, but it fell through.

The problem was how they wanted to portray the dealership and family.

“At every turn, they wanted to make us look like idiots,” Myers said.

He told them he wanted something positive, inspirational and motivational.

“ I have no problem with being funny and working our quirks into it, because we are quirky, ” Myers said. “ But you’re not going to make us look like a bunch of rednecks.”

Myers feels the documentary got it right.

“It’s a touching story about family, small business and the American dream.”
