Winston Salem Auto Repair Shop Becomes Certified O’Reilly’s Auto Repair Center

When Tracy Myers, owner of Frank Myers Auto Maxx, recently decided it was time to place a new Winston Salem Auto Service & Repair sign above his door, he said O’Reilly Auto Parts was there to help pay for the addition.

Myers said the assistance is just one of the benefits he has taken advantage of since becoming an official O’Reilly’s Certified Auto Repair Center more than three weeks ago.

A nationwide warranty for their customers, quality auto parts and quick delivery times are other advantages, Myers said, that have stemmed from his partnership with O’Reilly.

Frank Myers Auto Gets A Call From O’Reilly

Myers opened his auto repair facility to the public in 2010. He said O’Reilly had always been the shop’s main parts vendor, so when O’Reillys asked him to partner with them as a Certified Auto Repair Center, it just made sense, he said.

Myers, who started working with the family business in 1993, bought the dealership from his father in 2006.

“We always worked really well together and have a unique father-son relationship,” Myers said. “He always made it tougher on me since I am his son. I had to learn a lot. One thing in particular that I learned was the importance of a relationship with our parts vendors.”

Through his relationship with O’Reilly, Myers said he has found a parts distributor that really wanted to fulfill his needs.

“They have enough trucks and manpower to deliver parts in a reasonable time, which is really a key factor as to why I deal with O’Reilly,” he said, adding that the majority of his parts orders come from O’Reilly.

Helping Winston Salem Auto Repair Customers

Myers said that becoming a Certified O’Reilly’s Auto Repair Center is also beneficial to his customers because they receive a nationwide warranty on the work performed on their cars.

“If one of my customers is traveling out of town and breaks down, they can get set up with another Certified Auto Repair shop throughout the country that will take care of them under the warranty,” he said.

“The new partnership with O’Reilly’s is amazing,” Myers said. “They are a trusted name in the automotive parts and repair industry and we are fortunate to have been asked to be on their Team.”

He said he hopes to bring on new accounts thanks to the improved efficiency they have as an O’Reilly’s partner and bring back some old accounts that were unsatisfied with the other parts suppliers they had been using.

“The new partnership gives us a better warranty and lots more flexibility, which is what our customers want,” he said. “With the old way of doing business, I was losing some business because their was little to no warranty on the service side of the business. Now, thanks to O’Reilly, we have the 12m/12k mile warranty on service which has eliminated comebacks and helped get some business back.”

ASE Technicians In Winston Salem

Along with the new warranty, Myers said he has added an ASE Certified Technician and lots of state-of-the-art tools. He also has three technicians and one service writer but is looking to add another service writer so he can focus more on the business.

“I am handling the marketing, training the Team on how to deliver excellent customer service and staying in tune with what is going on in the garage,” he said. “I have learned that I have a lot of things to do, and I can’t do it all. That’s why I have surrounded myself by the best team in the biz”

As much as possible, though, Myers said he likes to stay in touch with his customers and the work performed on their cars.

“If I run across a customer at Wal-Mart and they start talking about their car, I don’t want to be clueless about what they are talking about,” he said. “Not only that, but I also just like to know that everything is being taken care of.”

Used Ford F-150 Recall Affects 150k; Winston Salem Used Car Dealer Offers To Facilitate

Government pressure has caused Ford Motor Company to recall nearly 150,000 F-150 trucks to fix air bags that could deploy without warning. This number is a fraction of the vehicles the government says should be called back and repaired.

Used Ford F-150 trucks from the model years 2005-2006 are being issued the recall for what the Dearborn, Mich., company calls a “relatively low risk” of the air bag deploying inadvertently.

Ford has been urged by the government to recall 1.3 million F-150s from the 2004-2006 model years. They cite 98 injuries from air bags deploying accidentally. Ford’s F-Series pickup trucks are the best-selling vehicle in America and that’s one of the reasons the recall is being closely watched.

Tracy Myers, owner of Winston-Salem, NC used car dealership Frank Myers Auto Maxx, said: “With the spectacular vehicles that Ford has been making over the past few years, their massive recall on their F-150 trucks have stunned America. While I’m sure that lots of used Ford truck owners that live in Winston Salem are concerned with the recall, it is my understanding that Ford is working to get this problem under control. I want to reassure our customers that are Ford truck drivers that we are committed to seeing them through this unfortunate situation. As part of that commitment, we are providing free inspections on any Ford F150 that will end on March 27th.”

Winston-Salem Used Car Air Filter Change Offered At Frank Myers Auto Maxx

Robert Thomas, Director of Service at the Frank Myers Auto Maxx Auto Service Center, says that changing your car’s filter on a regular basis can have a significant impact on engine life and performance.  “A clogged air filter can cause poor fuel mileage and reduce engine life so it is important to monitor your vehicle’s air filter. It is hard to give a specific time or mileage frame because the life of the filter depends on how much crud it ingests. A filter that last 20,000 miles on a vehicle driven on highways may only last a few months along country roads of gravel.  Changing it annually, or about every 15,000 miles, seems to be a good recommendation for the average driver.”

Can You Change Your Own Air Filter?

A lot of Winston-Salem used car drivers ask, “Can I change my filter on my own?” There are vehicles that can be done quite easy, others might require a little more work.  Most dealerships will replace your car’s air filter for no labor charge.  According to Tracy Myers, owner of Frank Myers Auto, the average filter cost around $30 and notes that many filters that appear to be dirty are in fact still good and do not really need to be replaced. So it’s best to have a trained service technician like the ones at Frank Myers Auto Maxx check the status.

Frank Myers Auto Maxx Offers Free Honda/Toyota Inspections

528,000 vehicles were recalled     today by Japanese automaker Honda due to a defect with the cylinder that holds brake fluid.

A Honda spokeswoman said that the defective cylinders were built by the same Ohio-based supplier, ADVICS, that was involved with the recall of 1.5 million Toyota vehicles worldwide to fix a brake fluid leak that it warned can gradually diminish braking performance.

“Our supplier is the one who actually notified us of the issue,” said Honda spokeswoman Christina Ra.

List Of Recalled Used Honda & Used Toyota Vehicles

The recall affects 2005 to 2007 model years of the Acura RL and Honda Odyssey vehicles built at Honda’s Saitama, Japan plant. It also affects the 2005 through 2006 Toyota Avalon, 2004 through 2006 Toyota Highlander (non Hybrid) and Lexus RX330, and 2006 Lexus GS300, IS250, and IS350 vehicles.

The bulk of the affected vehicles were exported to the United States.

There have been no accidents or injuries related to the defect, Ra said.

Honda said its recall was to “prevent the unlikely failure of a seal in the brake master cylinder.”

The seal could fail if factory-installed brake fluid is replaced with substandard brake fluids that have “reduced lubrication properties.”

If that were to happen, the low brake fluid warning lamp would light up, Honda said.

It cautioned that “failure to repair the master cylinder seal would eventually result in a soft brake pedal and the possible loss of one of the two hydraulic braking circuits.”

Toyota spokesman Paul Nolasco said that the majority of (Toyota) vehicles this time around need to be fixed for a problem with the brake master cylinder which could lead to weaker braking power.

Frank Myers Auto Maxx Offers Assistance

Tracy Myers, owner of Winston-Salem, NC used car dealership Frank Myers Auto Maxx, said: “The recalls that have plagued Toyota and now this one by Honda has stunned America. While it would be no surprise if these constant recalls were happening with certain automakers, it would have been impossible to imagine a few years back that these problems would have plagued these elite Japanese automakers. While it is my understanding that notices will be sent to Honda owners soon, until then I want to reassure Frank Myers Auto Maxx Honda customers that we are committed to seeing them through this unfortunate situation. As part of that commitment, we are providing free inspections on recalled used Honda or used Toyota vehicles that are involved in the current recall.”
